Floyd Brandt Dies at 52 After Heart Attack
Floyd A. Brandt, 52, well known Estherville resident, died unexpectedly yesterday about 4 p.m. after suffering a coronary while he and his son were pouring a concrete driveway at the Gary Fick home.

Mr. Brandt was taken by ambulance to Holy Family Hospital and was dead on arrival.

A resident of Estherville since 1932, Mr. Brandt had been self employed as a contractor for some time. Several years ago he became maintenance man at Golden Sun Feeds, Inc., and since that time had been employed there.

Floyd August Brandt was born April 26, 1914, at Sherburn, Minn., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivar Brandt. He received his education in the Sherburn schools and lived there until 1932 when he moved to Estherville.

He was married Dec. 15, 1937, to Evelyn Ruth Littell in Estherville. During World War II he served with the United States Navy.

Mr. Brandt was a longtime member of First Methodist Church of Estherville and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dennis of Estherville and David and Craig, both at home; two grandchildren, Pamela Sue and Matthew; his mother, Mrs. Lydia Brandt; four sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Florine) Vandevanter, Mrs. Arnold (Margaret) Hockett, Mrs. Gilbert (Mary) Stevens, all of Estherville, Mrs. Glenn (Minnie) Grieve of Odessa, Tex.; and three brothers, Harry (Doug) of Estherville, George of Humboldt, and Edward of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Charles, and a niece.

Funeral services are to be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church, Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery A family service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Fuhrman Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home until noon Saturday and at the church until time of service. The casket will not be opened after the service.

Honorary pallbearers are Norman Ohlund, Jay Hoien, Walter Frick, Delbert Beauman, Donald Sunde, and Myron Barnes.

Active pallbearers will be Leland Kolpin, Wilford Kolpin, Ronald Shipley, M. J. Hood, Arnold Yates, and John McDonald. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 17, 1966)
