Benson Dies in Spencer
A former Estherville man, John G. Benson, 68, died early yesterday morning in the Spencer Municipal Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Benson had lived in Spencer for a number of years but prior to moving there had lived here for many years. He was employed while here by the M. & St. L. Railroad as assistant depot agent. In Spencer he had been agent for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

Funeral services are to be Monday at 1 p.m. at Warner Funeral Chapel in Spencer. Graveside services will be here in Oak Hill Cemetery at 2:30. The Rev. Gerald Sawyer will officiate.

Survivors include his widow, the former Harriett Wratten of Estherville; and two sons, D. W. Benson of Terril and John F. of Dallas Center. There are five grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Henry Benson of Bloomington, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Bertha) Perkins of Joshua Tree, Calif. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 1, 1964)
