Dr. C. C. Birney Dies at 90
Nora Springs – Dr. Cleanthus C. (Clint) Birney, 90, who had practiced medicine at Estherville for almost 70 years, died there Feb. 17. He was born and raised in Nora Springs, and was a son of C. C. Birney and a nephew of E. E. Birney, both Nora Springs physicians.

He received his medical education in Kentucky and started his practice at Estherville with his father in 1893. He owned and operated a hospital there from 1915 until 1937.

He is survived by a son, John W. Birney, Des Moines; a granddaughter, and a half-sister, Dr. Cleo Christensen, Largo, Fla. (Mason City Globe-Gazette, Mason City, IA, February 27, 1960)
