Longtime Resident of Terril Dies
Mettinus Marius (Marinus) Bendixen, 84, died at Holy Family hospital at 11:25 last night, in his sleep. He had not been seriously ill, although he sustained a broken hip two years ago, and was confined to a wheelchair.

Mr. Bendixen was born at Wonk, Denmark on June 27, 1879 and came to Estherville in 1893, and was married to Katrina Miller here on May 21, 1895. Mr. and Mrs. Bendixen farmed near Terril after their marriage until 1921, when they made their home in Terril. He was engaged in selling John Deere farm equipment at the Bendixen Implement Co. in Terril for a number of years. Mr. Bendixen was a member of the Methodist church at Terril.

He is survived by his widow, four sons, Chris of St. Paul, Minn., Lewis, August, Howard, all of Terril; and a daughter, Mrs. Clayton Wilcox, also of Terril, and one brother, Hans Peter Bendixen, of Wonk, Denmark. Mr. Bendixen had a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 20, 1955)
