Bird Williams Survived by Six Children
Bird Williams, 84, who died Thursday, was born in Belmont, Ill., Oct. 6,[1871] the son of Ann and August Williams. He survived his three brothers and a sister. A half-brother and two half-sisters are still living in Illinois and Indiana.

He was united in marriage to Carrie Messner, Feb. 19, 1896. Mrs. Williams passed away last Aug. 18, after more than 59 years of wedded life. The couple was married at Pitzer church in Madison county, Iowa.

To this union were born eight children, six of whom survive him. The sons are Oscar P. of Council Bluffs, Staud A. of Prole, and Walter C., of San Bruno, Calif. The daughters are Mrs. Emma M. Rider, Omaha; Mrs. Arnold Eisenhower, Estherville; and Mrs. Allen Morris of Winterset. Eighteen grand children and 15 great grandchildren also survive.

The Bird Williams family always lived on a farm. They lived on farms in Illinois, Missouri, Madison and Adair counties in Iowa before moving to Emmet County in 1912. The family home is now at the east edge of Estherville on Fifth avenue. For many years the home was on a farm near Huntington.

Mr. Williams joined the Christian church in Estherville in 1917. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 31, 1956)
