Mrs. Williams Dies Suddenly This Morning
In Failing Health for Several Years – Leaves Husband and Son
Although friends have known that Mrs. S. H. Williams was in failing health the news this morning of her sudden passing came as a great shock to a wide circle of Estherville people with whom she had been closely associated during the many years of her residence here.

Mrs. Williams had spent a restful night, and partook of an ample breakfast which Mr. Williams had brought her. Shortly after this, however, she was taken with an attack of seeming nausea, but was stricken with a heart block. Death was almost instantaneous.

Mrs. Williams was born in Hastings, Neb., July 20, 1874, and lived in the Black Hills until 1894 when she came to Estherville to make her home.

Funeral arrangements await the arrival of the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Porter, who is enroute from his home in Oshkosh, Wis. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 23, 1933)

Mrs. S. H. Williams
Mrs. Sumner H. Williams passed away at her home on Thursday [November 23, 1933] last after an extended illness. Death came, however, as a surprise to her friends as her condition was not considered as serious at this time.

Mrs. Williams was born in Hastings, Nebraska, on July 20th, 1873. She came to Estherville with her husband shortly after their marriage forty years ago. For many years Mr. Williams was engaged in the drug business in this city.

Mrs. Williams was an active church worker and has been in the past an active worker in clubs in this city. She was a most excellent woman and beloved by all.

She is survived by her husband and one son, Porter Williams, who has resided in LaCrosse, Wis., but who is moving west in the near future.

The funeral services were held from the church on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Arthur Bailey officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 29, 1933)

Note: cemetery records give year of birth as 1876
