Estherville – Jane Welsh Ellerston, 90, Estherville and formerly of Ringsted, died Friday, Oct. 14, 1977, at Holy Family Hospital.Services for Mrs. Ellerston were held Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Harvey G. Throop officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ellerston was born Sept. 7, 1887, in Jack Creek Township, Emmet County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Welsh. She received her education in the Emmet County public schools and graduated from High School from Armstrong in 1906.
She was married to Chris R. Ellerston Oct. 8, 1913, at Estherville. The couple farmed in Jack Creek Township until 1955, and Mrs. Ellerston moved to Estherville to live with her sisters following her husband’s death in 1955.
Mrs. Ellerston was active in the First Presbyterian Church, Republican Committee Women, Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary, was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Emmet County Historical Society, Farm Bureau and Extension Service.
She is survived by one son, James C. Ellerston, Ringsted; one sister, Annie F. Welsh, Estherville; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 17, 1977)
