Gloide T. Tostenson is Dead
Gloide Telmar (G.T.) Tostenson, 64, well-known Estherville plumber, died early last evening, his death apparently caused by a heart attack. Mr. Tostenson was last seen about 4:30 p.m., when Henry Holman, manager of the Gardston Hotel, saw him enter his office in the basement of the hotel. When Mr. Tostenson failed to come home for the evening meal, Mrs. Tostenson and members of the family went to the office where they found lights on but no key and were unable to gain entrance as the door was locked. However, as Mr. Tostenson’s truck was parked nearby, police were summoned to open the door.

Inside they found Mr. Tostenson’s body and Dr. Roy Turner of Armstrong, acting coroner, was summoned. He ruled that death resulted from a heart attack.

Born Jan. 14, 1900, at Glenville, Minn., Gloide Tostenson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Tostenson. He received his education in the Baudette and Roseau, Minn., schools and in 1928 came to Emmet County, having lived at Jackson, Minn., for several years prior to coming here. For the past 31 years he had been a plumber here.

He was married June 11, 1929 to Lois Scharfenberg of Estherville. The marriage took place at Algona.

Mr. Tostenson was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and had been a representative to Grand Lodge several times.

Mr. Tostenson is survived by his widow, two sons, Allan of Estherville and Gloide, a teacher at Morton, Minn., and four grandchildren, Laura, Cynthia, Chuck and Gary Tostenson.

Also surviving are two brothers, Victor and Vernell, both of Hollendale, Minn.; and three sisters, Mrs. Orlin Taylor of Nevada, Mrs. George Veirkant of Glenville, Minn., and Mrs. Bernice Foley of Northwood.

Funeral services are to be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home from Sunday until time of services Tuesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 25, 1964)
