William Stam, 87, Dies; Funeral Will Be Wednesday
William Stam, 87, died at the Good Samaritan Center Sunday [July 6, 1969].

Stam was born Aug. 13, 1881, in the Netherlands to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Stam. He came to the U.S. in 1893 with his parents. They settled in the Wellsburg area.

He married Maggie Terbeek at Wellsburg in 1907. They moved in 1912 to the Lakota and Ledyard areas. They moved to the Gruver and Estherville area in 1929.

He retired in 1952. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Estherville.

He is survived by a son, Tony, Terril; four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Jean) Hoffmeyer, Armstrong; Mrs. Floyd (Harriet) Hoffmeyer, Alpha, Minn., Mrs. Richard (Grace) Hoffmeyer, and Mrs. Lyman (Joyce) Fox, Trimont, Minn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Gretschow, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Grace Sisby, Grand Rapids. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, one daughter and four brothers.

The funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Karl Miller officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
