Mrs. Stam Dies at 83
Mrs. William Stam, 83, longtime resident of the Estherville area, died yesterday at 11:20 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital, where she had been a patient since Saturday. Death was attributed to infirmities of advanced age.

The former Maggie Johanna TorBeek was born March 21, at Holland in Grundy County, the daughter of Sam and Jane TerBeek.

She was married to William Stam at Wellsburg in 1907. The couple farmed in the Wellsburg area for six years and later farmed in the Ledyard area for 20 years before moving to Emmet County in 1927.

While here, Mr. and Mrs. Stam farmed near Estherville and Gruver until 1952, when they retired and moved to Estherville, where they lived at 1029 N. Ninth St.

Mrs. Stam was a member of the Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Tony of Terril; four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Jean) Hoffmeyer of Armstrong, Mrs. Floyd (Harriet) Hoffmeyer of Alpha, Minn., Mrs. Richard (Grace) Hoffmeyer of Estherville, and Mrs. Lyman (Joyce) Fox of Trimont, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Ubbie Berg of Elmore, Minn.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Christian Church, Rev. Howard Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 26, 1966)
