Girl, 7, Dies After Door Mashes Finger
Estherville, Ia. – Funeral services were held here Tuesday for Wanda Jane Schultz [Shultz], 7, who died Saturday [August 15, 1953] after her finger was smashed in a screen door.

A doctor called to treat the girl’s finger decided it was necessary to remove it. The girl became ill after being given an anesthetic and died a short time later. Death was attributed to shock.

The girl and her parents, who live in San Diego, Calif., were visiting relatives here. (Burlington Hawk-Eye Gazette, Burlington, IA, August 18, 1953)
