John Shull, Estherville Resident, Dies
John Shull, 75, of Estherville, died 10:10 a.m. yesterday in a Cherokee hospital of heart disease. He had been suffering from the condition for a number of years. Shull was a retired tiler and farmer. He had been hospitalized for about a year.

He was born Dec. 2, 1874, in Monica, Ill., and received his education in Monica. About 36 years ago he married Cora Ellen Kelly of Missouri and the couple lived in Illinois for about three years after their marriage before coming to Iowa. The Shulls then came direct to Emmet county where he was engaged in tiling and farming near Estherville.

His wife died in 1937, and since then he has made his home with a brother, Levi Shull, of Estherville, and with his daughter, Mrs. Floyd Woodyard of Estherville. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors in clued one son, Ernest of Estherville; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd Woodyard of Estherville, Mrs. Robert Strube of Sioux Rapids, Mrs. Delwin Bruns of Indianola and Mrs. Leonard Tindal of Washington.

Four brothers, Levi, Everett, Joe and Freeman, and five sisters, Mrs. Frank Boyle of Illinois, Mrs. C. C. McClane of Des Moines, Ida Shull of Indiana and Clara Libby of Illinois, and 13 grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Otis, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Shull. His mother was the former Georgianna McQuirt.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Estherville Baptist church with the Rev. G. E. Forssell officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 17, 1950)
