Mrs. B. Shultz Dies Monday; Short Illness
Three Small Children Are Left Motherless – Funeral Thursday
Mrs. Mabel Etna Shultz, 29, died at a local hospital at 4:15 a.m. Monday of complications. She had been brought to the hospital last week to build up her strength for a serious operation, but failed to respond to treatment. Mrs. Shultz was born on March 14, 1904 at the farm home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Adam Anderson northeast of Estherville. She attended the schools of her community and was married in 1922 to Bert W. Shultz.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, three young children, Keith, 10, Jeanette, 8, and Junior, 3, four sisters, Mrs. Emil Huffman [Hoffman] and Mrs. Thos. Ruckman of Estherville, Mrs. Herman Smith of Lisbon, N.D., Mrs. Ray Howard of Independence, Ore., and two brothers, Alfred C. Anderson of Estherville and Martin Anderson of Armstrong. A daughter, Velmaline Laurette died at the age of 7 months.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:45 at the Emil Hoffman home on North 4th street, with Rev. Ortmeyer of the M.E. church in charge. Interment will be made in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Schulz’s sister Mrs. Smith arrives today from Lisbon for the services. Mrs. Howard will be unable to make the long trip east from Oregon. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 13, 1934)

Rites for Young Mother Here Thursday
Funeral services fro Mrs. B. W. Shultz, 29, who died Monday of complications, were held this afternoon at 1:45 at the Emil Hoffman home on North 4th street. The Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church officiated at the service. Burial was made at Oak Hill cemetery.

Pall bearers were Joseph Twedt, Earl Sidles, Warren Heyer, Thomas Eddie, Paul Heyer and Walter Schultz.

Mrs. Schultz had been taken to a local hospital to build up her strength for an operation but she failed to respond to the treatment.

She is survived by her husband, three children, four sisters and two brothers. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 15, 1934)
