Estherville Woman Dies
Mrs. Letta Sconberg, 89, longtime resident of Estherville, died today at 2 a.m. at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Death was caused by pneumonia.

She moved to Des Moines less than a month ago to live with her son, Dawes H. Sconberg.

The former Letta Caroline Hagen was born Oct. 6, 1877, at Hazelrun, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Peter O. Hagen.

She received her education in the Hazelrun schools and was married to Hans H. Sconberg in 1904 at Granite Falls, Minn.

After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Estherville and later to Montivedio, Minn., for three years prior to returning to Estherville where she has since made her home.

Her husband was in the grocery and hardware business as one of the owners of Sconberg and Kilgore. Mr. Sconberg died in 1939.

Mrs. Sconberg was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, Wild Rose Embroidery Club, White Shrine, Eastern Star, and the Estherville Women’s Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Leila) Hansen of Estherville; one son, Dawes, of Des Moines, five grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Fjeldstad of Minnesota and Mrs. Rosie Seid of Montivedio; two brothers, Oscar Hagen of Hazelrun and Norman of Granite Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother and sister.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church, Rev. Roy Hendricksen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Friday until noon Saturday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
