Lynn Schoening Dies, VA Hospital; Services Set
Lynn Laverne Schoening, 55, Estherville, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn., where he had been hospitalized for one month.He was born June 15, 1915, at Manning to Mr. and Mrs. Ferdenand Schoening and was educated in the Lakefield, Minn., schools.
On Feb. 16, 1946, he was married to Florella Doten at Estherville. He moved to the Estherville area in 1929 and was engaged in farming in the Superior area and for a number of years was engaged in trucking in Estherville.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was baptized in the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Emil of Los Angeles, Calif., and Adolph of Lakefield, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. John Voth, Windom, Minn., Mrs. Hertha Christ and Mrs. W. A. Ridley of Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday evening until time of services on Saturday. Military graveside services will be held.
Pallbearers will be Earl Bueltel, Allen Strong, Herman Andresen, Bernard Logan, John Egeland and Wayne Andre. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 1970)
