Edwin J. Schryver
Edwin J. Schryver was born at Polo, Ill., on the 29th day of April, 1874, and died at Estherville, Iowa, on the 31st day of December, 1926, at the age of 52 years, 8 months and 2 days.

The first 32 years of his life were spent at Polo during which he received his schooling and early training, then for a time he worked with his father at the trade of a brick mason.

On the 11th day of February, 1900, he was married to Miss Katherine M. Ridenour. To this union two sons were born, Harry G. of Estherville, Iowa, and Geo. W., of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Schryver first settled on a farm near Polo, Ill., where they lived for six years. In 1906 they moved to Iowa and settled on a farm near Ruthven. This was their home for ten years. In 1917 the family came to live in Estherville which has been their home ever since. Mr. Schryver has been engaged in the business of buying stock for many years.

Beside his loving wife and two sons he leaves to mourn his going three brothers, William of Polo, Ill.; John of Dixon, Ill.; and Chester of Estherville, Iowa. There are a host of friend. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of the following Fraternal Orders, the Masons, Knights of Pythias, Odd Fellows and Woodmen.

The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon and the body was laid to rest in the Estherville cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 5, 1927)

One of the largest funerals ever held in Estherville was that of Edwin J. Schryver, 52 years old, who died here last Friday following a long illness of Bright’s disease. The services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon and were in charge of the Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Schryver was an active member. Burial was in the Estherville church.

Mr. Schryver was born in Polo, Ill., on April 29, 1874, and spent the first 32 years of his life there. For a time he worked with his father at the trade of brick mason. ON Feb. 5, 1900, he was married to Miss Katherine E. Ridenour.

Mr. and Mrs. Schryver first settled on a farm near Polo where they lived for six years. In 1906 they moved to Iowa and located on a farm near Ruthven which was their home for 10 years. In 1917 the family came to live in Estherville, where Mr. Schryver engaged in the business of stock buying.

Besides is widow, and two sons, Harry G. of Estherville and George W. of Cedar Rapids, Mr. Schryver is survived by three brothers, William of Polo, Ill., John of Dixon, Ill., and Chester of Estherville. He will be greatly missed in the community for he was an active member in a number of fraternal orders including the Masons, Knights of Pythias, Odd-fellows and Woodmen.
