Homer E. Rogers
Homer Edward Rogers, the youngest son of Mary Jane and Robert Rogers, was born in Linn county Dec. 27, 1865, and died at his home in Gruver Jan. 6 at the age of 79 years and 10 days.

His young manhood was spent at Ely, Iowa, and on Oct. 7, 1888, he was united in marriage to Anna M. McGraw. They established their home on a farm in southern Iowa where they lived until the spring of 1913 when they moved to the Ryan Lake community and later to Ringsted and Dolliver. In February, 1939, they moved to their present home in Gruver.

Four children were born to the couple. Floyd and Earl have preceded their father in death. When a young man Rogers became a member of the Methodist church of Lenox and later transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church at Gruver.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Pearle Beggs of Clearfield, Ia., and one son, Homer, of Jackson, Minn.; six grandchildren, Mrs. Vivian Ewart of Pomona, Calif.; Jack, now stationed somewhere in the Pacific; Earl; Harold Rogers of Jackson, Minn.; Donald and Leroy Beggs of Clearfield. There are also two great grandsons, Kenney and Jerry Ewart of Pomona, Calif., and two great granddaughters, Carolee Ann and Lois Arlen Beggs of Clearfield. One brother, Charles, of Creston, survives.
