Funeral Services Held Monday at Gruver Church For Former Pomona, Calif., Policeman; Burial Here

After an illness of about eight years, [Robert] Earl Rogers died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rogers near Gruver early Saturday [January 20, 1940] morning. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Gruver church and burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery in Estherville.

Mr. Rogers was born on May 28, 1889 at Lennox, Iowa. On March 24, 1908, he was united in marriage with Miss Eula Dunlap of Lennox. In the spring of 1913 they moved to Emmet county and settled on a farm in Ryan Lake township. They moved to Pomona, California, in 1925 and Mrs. [Mr.] Rogers served as a member of the city police force of Pomona for several years. They returned to this county eight years ago because of the failing health of both Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. Mrs. Rogers passed away in April 1937. Mr. Rogers has been confined to his bed for several years.

Surviving Mr. Rogers is his daughter, Mrs. Vivian Ewart of Pomona, Calif., his parents, one sister, Mrs. Guy Beggs of Clearfield, Iowa, one brother, Homer Rogers of Pomona, Calif., and two grandchildren. He was a past Chancellor Commander of the Estherville Knights of Pythias. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 23, 1940)
