Rites for Fred Ruckman to Be Tuesday
Fred Ruckman, 91, died yesterday morning at the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville. He had been in ill health for approximately 10 months and the cause of death was attributed to complications of advanced age.

Ruckman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ruckman, was born Dec. 21, 1871, in Will County, Ill. He received his education there and as a young man moved with his family to Iowa and settled near Superior approximately at the turn of the century.

Ruckman was married to Sophia Sing Leupold of Superior June 5, 1915, at Mitchell, S.D. Following their marriage they farmed for 15 years near Superior. They sold that farm and moved to another farm near Fairmont, where they farmed for five years before moving to Estherville.

Ruckman joined the Methodist Church as a young man.

He is survived by one step-daughter, Mrs. Chase Brouse, and four step-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Harry Ruckman, Stuart, Fla., and Thomas Ruckman, Estherville. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from this afternoon until the time of services on Tuesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 26, 1962)
