T. Ruckman, Estherville, Dies at 87
Thomas Ruckman, 8, of Estherville, died at 10:30 a.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital after an extended illness.He was born May 29, 1881, at Foosland, Ill., the son of Thomas and Amanda Ruckman. He received his education in Foosland and Hardin County, Iowa, schools.
He married Mabel Josephine Herbrandtson in 1903, and she died in 1917. Later he married Laura Anders.
Mr. Ruckman came to Emmet County in 1900 and farmed and was a carpenter until his retirement 10 years ago.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Laura; daughters, Mrs. David (Gladys) George of Estherville, Mrs. Obert (Florence) Drangstad of Billings, Mont., Mrs. Maurice (Laurine) Houts of Sturbridge, Mass., Mrs. Lawrence (Vivian) Ketman of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Austin (Mary) Meyer of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Marvin (Laura) Cox of Jackson, Minn.; a son, Wade Ruckman of Casper, Wyo.; a brother, Harry Ruckman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodiest church, the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lyle Hum, Burt Shultz, Donald Spoo, Irvin Munsen and Peder Loe.
Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Thursday until time of the funeral. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 10, 1968)
