Rites Held For Mrs. D. Reimer

After being confined to a local hospital for several weeks, Mrs. Detlef Reimer, died Sunday evening, March 2. She had been a resident of this vicinity for more that 35 years, and at the time of her death was 66 years of age. Funeral services are being held today at the Methodist church at 2:30, with her pastor, W. A. WinterStein, officiating.

Mrs. Reimer is survived by her husband, four children, Mrs. John Reimer of Greene, Iowa; Mrs. Bertha Juhl and Mr. Otto Reimer of Estherville; and Henry A. Reimer of Algona; six grandchildren, one great-grandson; and a brother, Otto Martin, of Melbourne, Florida, an invalid at present. Mr. Reimer is also ill at present.

Mrs. Reimer was born Nov. 12, 1863, in Scott county, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Martin. Her father died in her early youth and with her mother she moved to Reinbeck, Iowa. It was while she was at Reinbeck that she met and married Detlef Reimer. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Huntington, and settled on a farm where they lived until 1913, when they moved to Estherville. The marriage took place in February, [?].

After moving to Huntington, Mrs. Reimer and her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church, although Mrs. Reimer was formerly confirmed in the German Lutheran church. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, March 6, 1930)

Mother of Henry Reimers is Dead at Estherville
Henry Reimer was called to Estherville Monday by news of the passing of his mother, Mrs. Delef [Detlef] Reimer, 67, who died Sunday night, following a six weeks illness with cancer of the stomach and heart disease. Mr. Reimer had visited his mother Sunday and had just got home, believing she was somewhat improved, when news of her death came. His father survives, and he has two brothers, Otto, of Estherville, and John, of Greene, also a sister, Mrs. Bertha Juhl, Estherville. (Kossuth County Advance, Algona, IA, March 6, 1930)
