Funeral Services For Detlef Reimer Were Held Yesterday

Detlef Reimer, 72, better known to his host of friends in Estherville as “Dave” passed away at the Coleman Hospital last Friday [January 17, 1936] evening.

Mr. Reimer was stricken in the Berg oil station by a severe stroke and was rushed to the hospital. He was very seriously ill from the start and his chance to recover was thought to be slight.

Mr. Reimer was a long time resident of the city, having resided here for the past forty-one years. He was born in Germany, coming to the United States in 1881. He at first resided near Reinbeck on a farm, later moving to this county. He was united in marriage in 1886 to Hanna Martin. There are three sons, Otto, John, and Henry, and a daughter, Mrs. Thos. Juhl.

Mr. Reimer was well known in this city. He was a member of three of the leading orders of the city. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He was “Dave” to all and beloved by all who knew him. It has been our pleasure to have known him for many years and he has been a neighbor for the past two years. He was a man whom it was a pleasure to have known.

The funeral services were held on Monday from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral parlar at 1:30 and the M.E. Church at 2:00 with Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 22, 1936)
