Father is gone, but not forgotten;
Only lost from present view;
He has left this world of suffering,
Somewhere else to live anew.
In the shining courts of glory
He’ll be waiting for us there;
Then be ready, precious loved ones,
For this hour you must prepare.

Father’s gone, but not forgotten –
Precious mem’ries linger still;
And his precious love and kindness;
None but God can ever fill.
Our hearts are sad, but we rejoice that one more soul has reached the city safely.

(Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 30, 1937)
