Wm. Rathman Passes Away
Has Been a Long Time Resident of This County and Six Years a Resident of CityAfter long suffering, death came to Wm. Rathman at his home in the southeast part of the city Tuesday [October 12, 1920]. Mr. Rathman has been in poor health for some time past, and for the past six weeks it has seemed he could hardly last from day to day.
Wm. Rathman was born in Germany on March 14, 1850, where he resided until 1882 when he moved to Greene, Butler County. He resided there on a farm until 1901 when he moved to Emmet County, residing northwest of this city on the county line, until he moved to Estherville some six years ago. Mr. Rathman leaves surviving him a wife, one son and two daughters, two of the children having passed away. Mr. Rathman was a man who did not make many acquaintances, but those who knew him were warm friends.
The funeral service will be held from the home on Thursday at 1 o’clock, and from the German Lutheran church at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Andrene, assisted by the Rev. Fleischer of Dunnell officiating. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 13, 1920)
Mr. William Rathman Died Tuesday Morning
Wm. Rathman died Tuesday morning at his home on south 11th street of cancer, at the age of 70 years. Funeral is to be held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock from the German Lutheran church, Rev. Fliescher of Dunnell, officiating. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 13, 1920)
