The remains of John Randolph were brought to this city for burial in the family lot. The Randolph family resided here for years and were of the city’s highly respected people. They moved to Minneapolis some years ago and have resided there since leaving this place.

Mr. Randolph when here was a land owner, operated some farms from this city and dealt to some extent in land. He had a host of friends in this city when residing here. He was sixty-five years of age at the time of his death which came last Friday as the result of an operation. The funeral services were held here on Sunday from the Presbyterian church, Rev. Davies officiating. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 12, 1927)

Funeral of Former Resident is Held Here with Masons in Charge
Funeral services for John William Randolph, 67 years old, who died in Minneapolis last Thursday following a major operation which had been performed two weeks before, were held here Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church. The Rev. P. A. Davies was in charge of the services and the Masonic lodge, of which Mr. Randolph was a member, attended in a body and took charge at the grave.

Until eight years ago, Mr. Randolph was a prominent resident of this city, where he had dealt in real estate for many years. For four years he served as postmaster. He is survived by his widow, and three children, Rolfe, Benjamin and Jane, all of Minneapolis, who were here for the funeral.

He was born on Oct. 10, 1859, in eastern Iowa, where his parents were among the early settlers from Virginia. After their death he went back to Virginia where he received his high school and college education. Later, he returned to Iowa, and in 1886 he was married to Miss Jennie Johnston of Estherville, and located here. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, January 12, 1927)
