Obituary of Mrs. Pearl Nelson

Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Z. Nelson, who passed away in Kossuth hospital, Algona, early Tuesday morning, March 21, were held at the Methodist church in West Bend Thursday afternoon. They were in charge of Rev. T. L. Paul. The pall bearers were Walton DeWitt, Vern Krug, John Krug, Ross Vaux, Earl Lehigh and Louie Schafer. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Estherville. The funeral was conducted by Jerry Schutter.

Pearl Z. Nelson, daughter of James and Martha Salisbury, was born at Cylinder April 15, 1912, and was 31 years, 11 mos. and 6 days of age at the time of her death.

She was united in marriage to Otis Nelson on December 11, 1926. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1943. To this union four children were born – Opal, Laurence, Darlene and Evelyn.

She leaves to mourn her passing her four children, her mother, Martha Bowen; three sisters – Laura Abby of Pineville, Oregon, Lizzie Jones of Graettinger and Myrtle Jacobs of West Bend; four brothers – Martin of Fairmont, Minn., William of Emmetsburg, Ora of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Harold of Spokane, Wash.; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Among those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jones and daughters, Beverly and Phyllis, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Thorsen and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Jones of Graettinger; Donald Jones of Wallingford; Mrs. Cecil Jones and daughter of Spencer; Mrs. L. Philips; Mr. and Mrs. John Bushorson and Mrs. and Mrs. L. Salisbury of Fairmont, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton and Sibbert Nelson of Estherville; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Halsted, Mrs. Chas. Bliten, Mrs. E. Halsted, Mrs. John Focker and Will Salisbury of Emmetsburg; Delbert Johnson and daughter of Rolfe; James Jacobs of Laurens; Mr. and Mrs. Art Shults of Algona; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Elbert of Whittemore.
