Death Claims a Mother
Mrs. Elmer Nelson Passes After a Long Illness, Funeral Rites Held Monday, Burial in Oak HillMrs. Elmer Nelson passed away at 8 a.m. Friday at the Park View Clinic. A Stroke suffered three weeks ago, from which she never recovered, was the cause of death. She was 50 years old.
Ruby Iris Davis was born Jan. 18, 1893 in Cherokee. In January 1911 she was married to Elmer Nelson in Marathon. After farming there two years they moved to Montana where they resided for seven years. When returning to Iowa they moved to Emmet county where they resided northwest of Estherville for 19 years and seven years ago they moved to Wallingford.
Two sons, Keith of Wallingford and Marvin of Des Moines; one daughter, Mrs. Mancel Hurlburt of Swea City, two brothers, Worley Davis, who lives in Wisconsin and Gilger Davis of California; two grandchildren and her husband survive her.
Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 at her home in Wallingford and at 2 o’clock at the Wallingford church. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery, Estherville.
The pallbearers were Nelson Wheatley, Irving Martens, Chris Nygaard, Cornell Oleson, George DeWall and Henry DeWall.
Mrs. Nelson was a true Christian woman. Lending a helping hand wherever she could and helping to make someone else happy made many friends for her.
