Mrs. John Murray Dies Very Suddenly In Omaha, Nebr.
The community was shocked Tuesday when word was received here by Mr. and Mrs. K. V. Turner of the very sudden death of Mrs. John Murray, at Omaha.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray were in this city but a few days ago visiting at the Turner home and with other friends here. While Mrs. Murray had a severe cough for sometime past and has not been in the best of health, her condition was not considered serious.
She has been receiving treatment for whooping cough for sometime past, but her death was caused from cancer of the lung and when death came, it came with a surprised suddenness.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray resided here for years and were well known people. When Mr. Murray became a mail pilot they moved to Omaha. They have been very regular visitors here since their removal.
The remains of Mrs. Murray will be brought to this city from Omaha on Thursday and will be taken to the K. V. Turner home at about noon. The services will be held at Oak Hill cemetery at two o’clock. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 20, 1932)

Funeral Services at Omaha Today – Buried Thurs.Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Murray, wife of John Murray who died suddenly at her home in Omaha Monday noon, will be held at Omaha at two o’clock today. The body will be brought to Estherville tomorrow morning and will lie in state from noon until two o’clock at the K.V. Turner home. Two short prayer services will be held at the grave at Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Murray had suffered with a cancer for about five years and had undergone an operation several years ago. Her health had failed rapidly within the last few weeks although she was not aware of her serious condition. She and Mrs. Murray visited in Estherville with friends two weeks ago. She was about as usual with her home and social duties and her death Monday came suddenly. Mr. Murray was away on his mail route to Chicago, with the United Air lines at the time.
Mrs. Francis Murray, mother-in-law of the deceased woman and Mrs. Turner left Monday afternoon for Omaha, and Miss Kathryn Murray, and a sister of the deceased from Los Angeles, arrived in Omaha by plane this morning at four o’clock. They had started by train but were derailed at Salt Lake City.
Besides the husband and sister, Mrs. Murray is survived by a daughter, Renee Eddy.
Mrs. Murray had made her home in Estherville for several years, and had kept in close contact with her friends here even after moving to Omaha. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 20, 1932)
