Last Rites Held Saturday for Mrs. Markley
Last rites were held Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. in First Methodist Church for Mrs. A. R. Markley, the daughter of Adelbert and Ludema Dyke. The Rev. Harrison G. Dawes officiated at the services. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
Addie Dyke was born Feb. 13, 1888 at Milford and later moved with her family to a farm near Superior where she attended school. The Dyke family moved to Estherville from the farm.
On Feb. 14, 1910, she was married to Arthur R. Markley and for several years the young couple farmed near Estherville, later moving to town where they have resided since.
Mrs. Markley was a member of First Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was an active worker in both as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include her husband and her son and daughter-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Markley and four grandchildren, Jerry, Joan, Joyce and Jimmy Markley. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Pallbearers were Adam Beibers, Charles Bixby, Arthur Beatty, George Kibbee, Harry Jones and Ed Nauss. Vocalists for the funeral service were Louis Obye and Mrs. W. W. Ferguson and flowers were taken care of by Mrs. Kibbee, Mrs. Beatty and Mrs. Beibers, (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 26, 1957)
