Final Service Saturday for Hugh Markley
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday for Hugh Markley, 53, who was found dead of a gun shot wound early Thursday [October 9, 1969] morning in Estherville. The death was ruled suicide.Hugh Michael Markley was born Nov. 16, 1915, at Estherville, the son of Arthur and Addie Markley. He lived here all of his life and received his schooling in Estherville. He operated a gasoline service station here.
He was married Feb. 14, 1940, to Wilma Hiveley at Graettinger.
Markley was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Jerry of Spirit Lake, and James Michael of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Harry W. (Joan) Heldt of Estherville, and Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Larson of Armstrong, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
Father George Six of the Grace Episcopal Church will officiate at the funeral service at Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery.
Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home from noon today until time of services on Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 10, 1969)
