Mrs. John Lippert Passed Away Early Sunday Morning
Mrs. John Lippert, 71, passed away at 3:45 Sunday morning, following a long illness. Some time ago she suffered a stroke and never recovered. The funeral was held Wednesday at the home and at the German Lutheran church, Estherville. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery. We do not have further particulars for this weeks Times. Mrs. John Lippert Funeral Was Held Last Wednesday
Resided Here For Nearly Half Century

Mrs. John Lippert, 71, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Borchers, Sunday, January 2, 1944, at 3:45 a.m. She had been ill for several years and suffered a stroke of paralysis the Thursday before her death.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the German Lutheran church at Estherville. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery, Estherville. Many old friends from this vicinity were in attendance at the funeral. The pall bearers were the same as for Mr. Lippert. They were Fred Spies, Carl Spies, John Graettinger, Frank W. Christensen, Gilbert Osher, and Michael Haag. The funeral service were conducted by the Rev. Horn, of Estherville.

Wilhelmina Lavell was born in Minsterappel, Rheinpfalz, Germany, November 18, 1872. She was 71 years of age last November. On April 7, 1893, she was married to Mr. John Lippert. The couple was married 50 years last April 7, the day before Mr. Lippert passed away.

In 1895 Mr. and Mrs. Lippert came from Germany and located in the United States. They resided at Cleveland for a short time and then moved west to Twelve Mile Lake township, Emmet county, Iowa, where they purchased a farm where they both resided until their deaths. The place is now owned by Mrs. Ralph Borchers, who cared for her parents.

Mr. Lippert passed away April 8, 1943. A son, Albert, and a daughter, Augusta, died six weeks apart in 1922.

Deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Amelia Bartels, of Riceville, Iowa; Mrs. Ralph Borchers, of Estherville, Iowa; and Mrs. Jerry Madsen, of Graettinger. There are seven grandchildren. Three nieces reside in California. Mrs. Lippert’s death is also mourned by a sister and brother in Germany.

Mrs. Lippert was a good Christian wife and mother and will be missed very much by those who mourn her departure. She was a hard working woman and the interests and welfare as well as the success and happiness of her family were always dear to her. She was an ideal neighbor and will be missed for a long time in the community in which she resided for close to a half century. The Times extends sympathy to the daughters and the other relatives in their sorrow. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, January 13, 1944)
