Last Rites Held For Former Terril Resident

Funeral services for Henry J. Buhr, 71, husband of the former Mary Juhl of Estherville, who died Jan. 13, were held Jan. 18, at the Christ Lutheran Church of Sanborn, Minn., with the Rev. Carl G. Fink officiating. A brief military service was held in front of the church, following the services. Pallbearers were Virgil Wellner, Wilfred Burginger, Ewalt Stark, John Lingbeck, Adolph Wellner and Henry Heckert. Burial was in East Side cemetery at Estherville.

Mr. Buhr was born Feb. 10, 1888, at Gineva, Neb., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Buhr, and moved to Terril with his parents and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Terril on May 3, 1903.

Mr. Buhr entered the service in July of 1918 and fought during World War I, in France. He was wounded in battle and returned to Fort Des Moines Hospital in Des Moines, where he spent 16 months recovering from his wound. After being dismissed from the hospital, Mr. Buhr enrolled in an 18 month mechanical course at Ames, and after graduation, spent 13 years employed in Dickinson County.

He and Mary Juhl of Estherville, were married on Nov. 28, 1936, in Yankton, S.D., and then moved to Sanborn, Minn., where he farmed until the time of his death. Mr. Buhr was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Sanborn, Minn.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two brothers, John Buhr, Sanborn, Minn.; and George Buhr, Springfield; and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Rekow of Terril.
