Ringsted - Funeral services for Fred Kruse of Jack Creek Township, who died Wednesday [January 21, 1953]were incomplete. He had lived on a farm in Jack Creek for more than 20 years. Funeral services for Fred Thomas Kruse, Jack Creek township farmer who died Wednesday, will be held at the Estherville Lutheran church, the Rev. L. G. Hinderaker officiating. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery.Mr. Kruse was born the son of Henry and Ida Kruse on Feb. 14, 1879, at Reinbeck. He was the oldest of 11 children. He came with his parents to Estherville and lived on a farm east of town until his marriage. He then farmed south of Gruver until he bought his farm in Jack Creek township 35 years ago, in March of 1918.
He married Carrie Berdahl Dec. 20, 1904. Surviving his death are his wife and five children, Leonard, Arthur, Clifford and Kenneth, all living at home, Mrs. Evelyn Jensen of Armstrong. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Wayne, Arthur and Colleen Rae Kruse and Freddie Francis Jensen; two brothers, Guy and Earl; and a sister, Metta.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Sperry, his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Kruse died at 6 a.m. Wednesday at the age of 73 years, 11 months and six days. He contracted for about a week but his condition was not considered serious. He had gotten up Wednesday morning and was sitting in a chair in his home when he began to cough several times. He then suffered a heart attack.
