Otto “Pat” Kruse Dies Suddenly of Bad Heart Attack
Otto (Pat) Kruse died suddenly Wednesday [August 18, 1948] morning while assisting with the threshing at the Lynn Weir farm. He was stacking straw and about 11:30 came down from the straw pile and said he had a pain in his chest. He was assisted to the barn and Dr. Vaubel was called but Mr. Kruse had passed away before the doctor arrived.

Pat, as he was known by all who knew him, was born at Reinbeck. He came to Emmet county with the family 53 years ago at the age of four. He never married. After World War I he entered the service of Ed. J. Maniece and has been with him ever since. He was a painstaking farmer and always on duty.

He is survived by three brothers, Earl, Guy and Fred and a sister, Metta Gehlke.

The funeral will be Friday from the Sternborg Funeral home and from the Baptist church at 2:30 the Rev. Forssell officiating. Interment will be in the East Side [Per cemetery records, Oak Hill] (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 19, 1948)
