Charles Robinson Rites Held Sunday at Armstrong
Charles (Babe) Marvin Robinson, 63, Armstrong, died at 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 1972, at Fairmont Community Hospital.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Leslie Lewis officiating. Burial was in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Robinson was born June 15, 1909, at Albion, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Robinson. He was educated in Armstrong schools and attended Capitol City Commercial College. He had come to Armstrong with his parents in 1919.
On July 6, 1929, he was married to Lorna Burkhead in Armstrong. Following their marriage they lived in Chicago where he worked as an accountant for six years. They moved to Armstrong in 1935 and Mr. Robinson went into business with his father-in-law, J.B. Burkhead in the clothing trade, in which he remained fro 32 years.
He had been a basketball official in Northwest Iowa for many years, and in 1969 was awarded a certificate of recognition by the Northwest Iowa Coaches and Official Assn. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, ABC Club of Armstrong, the United Methodist Church of Armstrong, Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna, Armstrong; one son, James C. Robinson, Sunnyvale, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Diane) Brandt, Cedar Falls; two grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Wegner, Fairmont. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers serving at the funeral were L.E. McIntire, James Pfeil, Arden Jongberg, Allen Heathman, Robert Monson and Effner Posasl. Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Armstrong, was in charge of arrangements.
