James Simon Rites Held At Gruver

James H. Simon, 42, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 1972, at Fairmont Community Hospital.

Services were held at 2 p.m. today at Gruver Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Neal Armstrong and the Rev. Sanford Sill officiating. Burial was made in East Side Cemetery, Estherville, with military graveside rites.

Mr. Simon was born July 26, 1930, in Emmet County. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Simon. He received his education in rural schools in Emmet County and graduated from Dolliver High School.

On March 31, 1951, he was married to Evelyn Shultz at the Presbyterian Church in Estherville and they farmed in the Gruver area. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Post in Wallingford.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Joni and Sandy; two sons, Jimmy and Danny; and his mother, Mrs. Herman Franck of Ceylon; three brothers, Robert of Dolliver, John of Sacramento, Calif., and Fred of Delphi, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Neppl, Dolliver; two stepbrothers, Earl Franck of Annapolis, Ind., and LeRoy Franck of Dunnell; stepsisters, Mrs. Irene Reiman of Ceylon and Mrs. Albert Gladys Gerhardt of Fairmont.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died in November, 1966.

Honorary pallbearers were Jno. E. Greig, Lewis Harvey, Sam Heikes, Deemer Lee, Andrew Peterson, Lester Ramsey and Francis Shadle. Active pallbearers were Hans Hansen, Kenneth Hanson, Howard Johnson, Mark Origer, Jim Richard and Greg Thiel.
