Caroline Christopher Jacobson
Caroline Christopher Jacobson was born in Lee, Ill., August 25, 1864, and departed this life on February 7, 1931, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was the daughter of Christopher and Bertha Christopher and lived with her parents in Lee, Illinois, until her marriage to Brownell Jacobson September 3rd, 1885. She was united with the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Lee, Illinois, the 9th day of November, 1879. To Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson there were born four daughters and three sons, all of whom survive: Mrs. Jennie Andrews, Waterloo; Mrs. Bessie Myhre, Estherville; Mrs. Laura Luckinbill, Mrs. Myrtle Bishman, Julius C. Jacobson, Bennett I. Jacobson and Ernest T. Jacobson, all of Brookings, S. Dak.Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson came to Iowa to make their home in 1887, residing on a farm north of Gruver. In 1911 they moved with their family to Brookings, S. Dak. Mr. Jacobson preceded her in death on October 11, 1917. Mrs. Jacobson continued to reside in Brookings, making her home with her children. About four months ago she was taken seriously ill and during that time has been a patient sufferer. The end came quietly and peacefully on Saturday evening about 11 o’clock. Besides the aforementioned children, she leaves to mourn her departure seven grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Anna Risetter, Mrs. Bessie Solmonson, Mrs. Christina Sorum, and Mrs. Marie Nerness, besides a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Jacobson was a kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed by those that were near and dear to her. Funeral services were held at the Estherville Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon Rev. L. A. Mathre, officiating. Interment was made in the Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 11, 1931)
