Mrs. Gustafson Passed Away at Home Monday
Anna Josephine Rose was born on the 7th day of July 1871, at Oscarsham, Sweden, and died at Estherville, Iowa, on the 5th day of September, 1927, at the age of 57 years, 1 month and 28 days.

In the year 1882, when she was a young girl, but eleven years of age, the family left Sweden and came to this country, making their home in the new country at Varna, Ill.

She was married on the 27th day of January at Henry, Ill. to Mr. Charles John Gustafson. To this union six children, three daughters and three sons, were born. The oldest daughter, Mrs. Albin Anderson, of Dunnell, Minn., died about six years ago. The living children are Mrs. John Amundson of Estherville, Ray Gustafson of Dunnell, Minn.; Clark Gustafson of Estherville; and Ethel and Lynn who are at home. Three sisters and two brothers are living. They are as follows: Mr. William Hanna of Ruthven, Iowa; Mrs. Walter Bates of Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. John MacColl, Moline, Ill.; A. J. Rose of Portland, Oregon; and John Rose, Davenport, Iowa. There are two grand children.

The first twelve years of their married life was spent by Mr. and Mrs. Gustafson at Wemona, Ill. Then two years in Canada and from there they moved to Carthage, South Dakota, where they lived for about three years.

In 1912 the family moved to Emmet county and have lived on two farms near Estherville. In the spring of 1925, on account of her failing health, the family moved into the city and this has been her home since. Mrs. Gustafson was born and raised in the Swedish Lutheran church. A few days ago by her request she was taken into the Presbyterian church.

Her dear ones and her friends loved her for her beautiful spirit, always true and kind. She was a woman with strong faith. She will be greatly missed.

The funeral services will be conducted from the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon at two o’clock and the body will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1927)
