Groves Burial Is Tomorrow
Service Will Be At Funeral Home
Funeral services for Mrs. Florence C. Groves, 51, who died at 11:35 Saturday [January 13, 1934] at her farm home south and west of town, will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel. The Rev. Arthur G. Bailey will be in charge of the rites, both at the chapel and at the Oak Hill cemetery. H. H. Drey, Clyde E. Sanborn, James Rainey, C. J. Robinson, L. M. Christensen, and F. G. Parsons will act as pallbearers. Mrs. Sarah Reese Bennett will furnish special music.

Mrs. Groves, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Cook was born May 26, 1882, at Malvern, Ohio.

When she was two years old, her family moved from Ohio to Argonia, Kansas. She lived in Kansas and Oklahoma until 1913 when she came to Estherville. Here she was employed as manager of the L. M. Christensen ready-to-wear department for nearly a year.

She was married in Estherville on April 22, 1914, to George E. Groves.

Mrs. Groves is survived by one son, Lamont C. Harris of Estherville, her mother, Mrs. Levi Cook of Argonia, Kansas, two sisters, Mrs. N. S. Fox of Cherokee, Okla., and Mrs. W. T. Warner of Hitchcock, Okla., and one brother, E. O. Cook of Kansas City, Kansas. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 15, 1934)

Mrs. G. Groves Dies Suddenly Saturday A.M.
Had Made Her Home in Estherville for Twenty Years
Mrs. Florence C. Groves, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday of a heart attack at her farm south of Estherville. She had suffered with heart disease for several years and her condition had been serious for about a month.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Mahlum and Anderson chapel with Rev. A. G. Bailey in charge. Pall bearers were Clyde Sanborn, Chas. Robinson, James Rainey, L. M. Christensen, Hery Drey and Fred Parsons.

Born at Malvern, Ohio, on May 26, 1882, the daughter of Levi and Elma Weaver Cook, Mrs. Groves was 51 years old at the time of her passing.

When she was two years old, her family moved from Ohio to Argonia, Kansas, where she grew to womanhood. She resided in Kansas and Oklahoma until 1913 when she came to Estherville and was at the head of the ready to wear department of the L. M. Christensen store for about a year. On April 22, 1914 she was married to George E. Groves.

Mrs. Groves was a woman of untiring energy and of marked business ability. Living on the farm by preference she was in active management of the place and was greatly interested in it. She found time as well for her home and for her friends.

Mrs. Groves is survived by her mother, Mrs. Levi Cook, of Argonia, Kansas, one son Lamont C. Harris of Estherville, two sisters, Mrs. N. S. Fox of Cherokee, Okla., and Mrs. W. T. Warner of Hitchcock, Okla., and one brother, E. O. Cook of Kansas City, Kansas, and by her niece, Mrs. Chas. Willey of this city. The brother is the only out of town relative able to be here for the funeral service. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 16, 1934)

Mrs. Geo. Groves Dies Suddenly Last Saturday
Mrs. Florence E. Groves passed away suddenly last Saturday at her home south of this city, of heart failure. Mrs. Groves had not been in the best of health and while death came suddenly, the worst had been expected.

Mrs. Groves was born on May 26, 1882. She has been a resident of this city for many years. She came here as a saleslady for the L.M. Christensen Co. in the ready-to-wear department and by her kindly manner to customers made many friends.

She was united in marriage to Geo. E. Groves and resided in this city until a few years ago when they established themselves in a rural home south of the city.

Mrs. Groves was a hard worker and enjoyed the life at the rural home. She was a good business woman, but kind hearted to her friends. She was liberal with the products of her garden and gave away much of the products of the garden.

She leaves to mourn her death one son, LaMont Harris, of this city.

The funeral services were held form the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, the Rev. Arthur G. Bailey officiating. The remains wre laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 17, 1934)
