Joseph A. Sarazen, 1900-1943

Joseph Albert Sarazen, 43, died Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Coleman hospital. A heart attack causing a clot caused his death. He had been suffering from pneumonia since a week ago last Sunday.

Mr. Sarazen had been working manager for the Northwestern Banker magazine and traveled on business in this part of the middlewest and had headquarters in Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Sarazen had been living in Wallingford recently.

He was born January 1, 1900 in Bruce, Wis. He attended public schools in that town. Later on, he went to Minneapolis where he was employed.

He married Melvina Kasa Burns January 21, 1928 in Minneapolis.

He is survived by his widow, a step-daughter, Mrs. Ralph Bryan of Estherville; four brothers, Phillip Sarazen of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Victor Sarazen of Eau Claire, Wis., Alex Sarazen of Bloomer, Wis., and Leo Sarazen who is in the armed services; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Andrel and Mrs. Don Clements of Bloomer, Wis.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Wallingford Lutheran church. Burial was in the Wallingford cemetery.

The pallbearers were John A. Sarazen, O.E. Jorstad, C.L. Torreson, Norman Mickelson, Albert Heidecker, Romaine Heidecker and Gilford Osher.
