Harry Bixby, 47, Dies at Ft. Dodge
Former Local Man Ill Short Time of PneumoniaHarry Bixby former Estherville resident passed away at the Mercy hospital in Ft. Dodge after a week’s illness of bronchial pneumonia. Services were held at the Modern Funeral home in Ft. Dodge and at the Mahlum and Anderson chapel here Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Mr. Bixby was born in Estherville July 8, 1887 and attended the local schools. He was married to Margaret Lingfelter and they have one son, Merrill. Mr. Bixby was in business here in the Bixby butcher shop and in 1923 moved to Ft. Dodge where he also ran a butcher shop.
He [is survived by his wife and] son, two brothers, John of Estherville and William of Casanova, Wis., and two sisters, Mrs. John Tosel of Minneapolis and Mrs. Stanley Hanen of Pine City, Minn. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 2, 1934)
Funeral Services For Harry Bixby Held Here Monday
Harry Bixby, formerly of this city, but now of Fort Dodge, passed away at his home in that city last Saturday [October 1, 1934] at the noon hour of a heart attack. Harry was born and reared in this city. When in school here he was considered one of the most apt pupils. He was always smiling and had a cheerful disposition. A few years ago he moved to Fort Dodge and entered business, but of late he has been in failing health.
The remains were brought to this city on Monday for burial after a service in Fort Dodge. The remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery. Relatives and friends of the deceased came here from Fort Dodge to attend the services at the Mahlum & Anderson parlors. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 3, 1934)
