Caryl Bixby Passed Away Wednesday
Youngest Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bixby Died After Brief Illness

Mr. and Mrs. John Bixby on east Walnut street mourn the loss of their youngest daughter, Caryl Lee who died last Wednesday morning at -----. Little Miss Caryl arrived on the thirteenth day of April, and was to gladden the Bixby home but her time here was short. On the day preceding her death she was taken seriously ill and underwent a great deal of pain during her illness. On Monday her condition seemed improved enough to warrant Mr. Bixby’s resuming his work on the Rock Island and he went to Ellsworth on his regular fun. Monday evening he received a telephone call from L. R. Buckingham that his daughter’s condition was becoming worse. Mr. Bixby hired a care to take him to Sibley where Mr. Buckingham had driven to meet him and they arrived in Estherville at 11:40 that night. Tuesday morning the child was taken to the Birney hospital and everything possible was done to prolong the life of the child but it was to no avail. She passed away Wednesday morning at 3:30 o’clock. Her death was due to an ulcer on the bowels. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:30 at the Presbyterian church and interment made in Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Bixby have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrowing hours. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, October 8, 1924)
