Daniel Forest Batman 1867-1928

Daniel Forest Batman was born in Vernon county, Wisconsin, Sept. 5, 1867. When five years of age he moved with his parents and brothers and sisters to Woodbury county, residing there for a number of years.

He was married to Anna Jane Benner, Dec. 28, 1890. To this union was born seven children, three of whom preceded him in death, two dying in infancy and Daniel who passed away two years ago.

He came to Estherville from Birch Tree, Mo., seven years ago, residing in Estherville since then. The last five years he has been in failing health from complications of diseases. He passed away at his home on West Emory street, Thursday morning, Dec. 20 at 8:20. He confessed his Christ before he passed away and his wonderful testimony was witnessed.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Nettie Morgan, Mrs. Ray Scott and Mrs. Henry Jones of Estherville and one son, Theodore of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, besides nine grandchildren and one brother, Frank Batman of Nebr. City, Nebr., and one sister, Nettie Metcalf of Springfield, Oregon.

All of his family were with him during his last illness and at the time of his death. All was done that loving hands could do.

Services were held from the home at 2 o’clock and from the Christian church at 2:30 Monday, Rev. Alva Ragsdale officiating. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 26, 1928)

D. F. Batman
D. F. Batman, who resided on the West Side of the river, passed away at his home last Thursday morning after an illness of two years.

Mr. Batman has been about until recently but has been failing in health for the last year. It was considered only a question of time until the end would come.

Mr. Batman was born on September 5, 1861. The funeral services were held on Sunday from the Christian church, the Rev. Ragsdale officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 26, 1928)
