Mrs. Helene Barber, 99, Estherville, died at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday [February 16, 1971] at Holy Family Hospital from complications of age.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today and until time of the services.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Rites Held for Mrs. H. Barber
Mrs. Helene Barber, 99, Estherville, died Feb. 16 at Holy Family Hospital. She was born June 2, 1871, near Marble Rock, to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Knoop.

She came to Estherville in the late 1890’s. She operated a dress shop and on June 19,1905, she was married to Charles S. Barber of Rockford. Mr. Barber operated a real estate agency.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died April 27, 1935, and two infant daughters. She is the last of her family, having been preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Services were 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Emmet Amdahl, Donald Weir, Dr. Terry Anderson, Robert J. Wells, Willard Moore and Fred Short. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 18, 1971)
