Henry Barber, whose death occurred the 12th inst., was born in Voluntown, Conn., June 16th, 1810 [Per age on tombstone s/b July 16, 1810]. For many years he was a resident of Barberville, R.I. He moved to Wisconsin in 1850 and to Iowa in 1862. He was married to Miss Mary Palmer. To Mr. and Mrs. Barber were born thirteen children, of whom seven are living. Father Barber has left this world to go to his companion who preceded him to the glory world almost thirty-five years ago. In 1842 he united with the Baptist church and gave the brightest evidence that his trust in Christ was not in vain. In his departure the community lose a friend and his children a kind, loving father, yet in their sorrow they do not mourn as those who have no hope, for their father gave evidence by words and life that all was well.
The funeral was held at the Baptist church on Saturday conducted by the pastor, assisted by Rev. L. c. Woodford. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, March 19, 1891)
