Died – Wilber Vernon Henkins was born May 8, 1883, at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and died Sept. 26, 1898, at his home in Emmet county, where the services were held by his pastor attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. The deceased was a loving son and esteemed by all who knew him. He was converted and joined the M.E. church last winter and was a faithful member of same at the time of his departure. He leaves a father, mother, seven brothers and three sisters with many friends to mourn his loss. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, September 29, 1898)
