Mrs. Hagar Dead

Mrs. August Hagar, 80 years old, died last Wednesday [March 21, 1928] . Funeral services were conducted Saturday by the Rev. I. A. Mathre at the Norwegian Lutheran church and burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery.

Augusta Krantz Hagar was born May 24, 1847, in Smaaland, Sweden, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the age of 22 she came to America and the family settled in Marshall county, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Hagar came to Emmet county 16 years ago, where she settled on a farm southeast of Estherville. Five years later they moved to Estherville and made their home here until last October when because of Mrs. Hagar’s failing health they moved to Fort Dodge to live with their daughter.

Mrs. Hagar is survived by her husband and daughter, Mrs. Raymond Whiting of Fort Dodge. One son and three daughters are dead. Mr. and Mrs. Hagar became members of the Estherville Lutheran church in 1912. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, March 28, 1928)
