Died – In Estherville, Friday, May 26th, 1893, Mrs. Anna Johnck, wife of John Johnck, aged 48 years. Mrs. Johnck was born April 17, 1845, in Denmark, Europe, and was married in Keokuk, Iowa, in 1867. The family moved to Estherville about eight years ago. Eight children are living, the youngest being about five years old and two are married. The deceased was an excellent woman, an indulgent mother and a kind neighbor who will be greatly missed from not only the home circle but in the entire neighborhood where she was beloved and respected by all. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon and was one of the larges ever held in this city. Mrs. Johnck being a member of the Rebecka Lodge, the Odd Fellows had charge of the exercises, being accompanied by her sister members. The solemn services were held in the M.E. church, which was far too small to accommodate the throng. Rev. T. F. Bowen, the lodge chaplain, delivered the sermon, and the Noble Grand, G. W. Mattson, read a part of the burial service. The floral display was very fine, being furnished by the lodges and intimate friends. A quartette composed of Mrs. Collwell, Mrs. Peterson, Frank Woods and James Espeset, with Miss Liscomb organist rendered excellent music for the occasion. The procession to the cemetery was more than half a mile in length. At the cemetery [Oak Hill] the beautiful Odd Fellow ceremony was carried out, and the noble lady left alone to sleep until the last great day amid blooming flowers and signing birds.
