E. Wade Suicides
Monday afternoon [October 30, 1893] E. Wade, an old settler of this vicinity, was found dead in bead at the Emmet house in this city. A coroner’s jury, comprised of C. Hubbard, H. A. Jehu and E. H. Smith, returned a verdict of suicide. It seems that Mr. Wade had got some opium for medicinal purposes and the evening previously had taken some presumably to produce sleep. In his condition it proved an overdose and he never awakened. The deceased was past sixty years old and leaves a wife and several children. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, November 2, 1893)
