Jane Othelia Sheldon was born at Rupert, Vt., August 3, 1836. Died March 22nd, 1916, at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 19 days. Being the youngest of six children.

In 1852 she was married to Elisha Wade, moving from Vermont to Independence, Iowa, three years later. From there they moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and came to Emmet county in 1883. To this union six children were born: Orin Alfred, (deceased); Julia Cordelia (Mrs. O. W. Hendrickson,) Mary Elizabeth (Mrs. J. D. Weir), Chas. Sheldon and Jessie Irene (Mrs. M. R. Weir, deceased,) and Emil Arthur. Mr. Wade passed away about 21 years ago. In 1895 she was united in marriage to Reuben Bailey and lived in Estherville several years.

Grandma Bailey suffered a stroke of paralysis about six years ago and has been in declining health ever since. During her last illness, which lasted but a few days, she suffered very little and simply slept away. She was a devout Christian having been brought up in the Presbyterian church and has been connected with the Presbyterian church all her life, and she leaves a host of friends. She has spent the lat four years with her daughters, Mrs. O. W. Hendrickson and Mrs. J. D. Weir.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Estherville and interment made at Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 29, 1916)
